Mark Murphy, Canonical's Alliance Manager, just posted a blog entry that is great news to us in the server team: "HP and Canonical work towards Ubuntu certification on servers ".
HP Proliant server have always worked nicely with Ubuntu Server, and thanks to HP who has provided us with hardware, we've been able to verify this in our development cycle and announce them as "Compatible" since the release of 8.04 . Certification is a very important step as our users will be able to chose HP Servers with the assurance that HP and Canonical will work jointly on making sure these servers performs as well as possible, and that if something goes wrong, customers with a support contract will be able to call in to get it fixed.
I believe this is a great news and will lead to an even faster growth of Ubuntu Server Edition usage in the enterprise, which is already getting quite big according to our last survey results .
